Face Masks
Face masks are a fully customizable way to do wonders for your skin. They are so simple to use, simply mix the mask with a liquid of your choice: water, aloe vera, yogurt; you can use your imagination! These work best with followed up with my Face Mists with niacinamide, left to dry fully for 5 minutes, and then finish up with an application of a quality moisturizer.
Clean - a cleansing combination of activated charcoal, willow bark, and carrot mixed with the key ingredients below. This is best for oily skin, but anyone can use it. follow up with a Face Mist or a toner without alcohol, and then a quality moisturizer.
Balance - a soothing mixture of marshmallow root, turmeric, carrot, and beer mixed with the key ingredients below. This is suitable for all skin types.
Relax - a calming mask made up of silk, French green clay, and rose petals mixed with the key ingredients below. This is suitable for all skin types.
Key Ingredients: bentonite clay, kaolin clay, arrowroot powder.
To Use: Pour some dry clay into a mixing vessel of your choosing, I have a favourite bowl. Mix in a liquid of your choice (water works great, aim for filtered) to your desired consistency. Apply to your face with either your fingers or a clean silicone face spatula in an even layer, allow to dry (5-10 minutes, depending on the liquid used and how much of it), and remove the mask with water, only using the pads of your fingers to rub if required. Allow to air dry, or pat dry with a clean face cloth - never rub. Wait for your skin to dry fully, and apply a toner or Face Mist, allow to dry again, and apply your favourite moisturizer.
NOTES:
As an esthetician, I have a lot of favourite ingredients for masks. When it comes to clay masks, they all have astringent properties but it's always important to note that when dry skin comes into frequent contact with an astringent, typically the body will try to produce more sebum to counter the dryness; if it doesn't a quality moisturizer will help. Always test a patch of skin before committing to a full-face application - this goes with any product that comes into contact with your skin.
I always suggest folks don't use toners with alcohol in them as they don't balance the skin; they make your skin require more moisturizer right off the hop. I make Face Mists with niacinamide for this reason.
